The love and admiration that Victoria and Ethan have for each other is obvious–they absolutely light up in one another’s presence. I couldn’t help but feel the “warm fuzzies” when I first met them. They wanted their wedding to be an elegant, intimate event that genuinely reflected their love and commitment. The beautiful Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum provided the perfect backdrop for their whimsical celebration surrounded by their nearest and dearest!
The ladies started their day by having their hair done at the lovely Marianne Strokirk Salon. Followed by a light lunch in the Bridal Suite at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel downtown, the ladies relaxed in the lovely robes the bride gifted them. With Victoria’s help (she is a professional makeup artist) the ladies did their makeup and got ready for the big day!
Soon it was time for Victoria and her ladies to get dressed. With the help of her mother, Victoria slipped into her stunning gown. She was absolutely breath-taking!
Once everyone was dressed, it was time to make their way to Olive Park for the bride and groom’s first look. VIP Valet Services helped the wedding party travel around the city in style.
Victoria and Ethan’s first look was magical! Under the lovely canopy of Olive Park, Ethan waited with anticipation to see his beautiful bride.
From that moment on the two of them were all smiles, all day!
Their lush florals were created by the talented team with Aberdeen’s Wedding Florist.
Taking advantage of the beautiful weather and location, Victoria and Ethan hung around the park and had a photo shoot with their wedding party. Ann & Kam Photography did a wonderful job capturing this gorgeous group, couple, and city!
They also took the opportunity to have their family photos taken before the ceremony with the beautiful elevated terrace at the museum as their backdrop.
The wedding ceremony was held on the patio at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. The stage was set beautifully, but the grey clouds were looming and threatening rain. We decided to chance it, and it turned out to be a spectacular choice! The atmosphere was quiet, reflective, and the perfect space for Victoria and Ethan’s “I Do’s”. Luckily, the rain held off just long enough.
Victoria looked stunning as she made her way down the aisle. Officiated by Aaron with Chicago Wedding Officiants, their ceremony included sweet and personal touches with beautiful readings, intimate vows, and a lovely anniversary wine box ceremony. The joy radiated from everyone as these two made their commitment to one another.
As the lovely couple made their way back up the aisle, the rain started to sprinkle lightly. Guests quickly made their way inside and up the stairs to the Wilderness Walk and Butterfly Sanctuary for the cocktail hour. Everyone enjoyed the delicious food and drinks provided by Kenmare Caterering, as well as the interesting exhibits and beautiful butterflies.
Before the rain shower, the plan had been to have dinner on the museum’s outdoor elevated terrace. Everything was set, and then quickly had to be brought in as rain began to fall. Despite the quick change in location, the vendors were able to make the new reception space a magical wonderland! Chicago Lighting Design provided whimsical lighting with hanging globes and lanterns. Aberdeen’s Wedding Florist created beautiful wooded centerpieces with dangling crystals, candles and orchids. Rent Vintage Chicago set some fun vintage seating areas that made the room nice and cozy. The bride handmade the place cards, table numbers, and other event signs which gave everything that extra special touch. It all came together beautifully!
Guests rose to their feet as Victoria and Ethan were announced into the reception room to the song that was playing when they first met: “Call Me, Maybe!” Everyone was clapping and cheering as they welcomed the newlyweds!
The night began in an energetic fashion and remained joyous throughout the night! Alongside a delicious dinner by Kenmare Catering, the evening had many personal and touching moments. The Maid of Honor and wedding party performed a marvelous trio and the evening was sprinkled with sweet and heartfelt toasts all in honor of Victoria and Ethan! Ann & Kam Photography was able to capture the pure and genuine moments throughout the evening.
Victoria and Ethan had a sweet and private cake cutting moment, with a little cake at the top of a delicious cupcake tower full of Molly’s Cupcakes.
As they made their way to the dance floor, Ethan and Victoria stopped to thank the room for being a part of their special day, then they danced their first dance as husband and wife to the song, “Earth Angel” performed by Death Cab for Cutie!
Following the Father-Daughter and Mother-Son dances the dance floor filled up immediately with great dancers! Thanks to Music by Design‘s DJ & Photo Booth, everyone had a great time dancing it up and being silly in the photo booth!
It was truly a special event that reflected the genuine love of a truly special couple. Victoria and Ethan, thank you so much for allowing me to play a part in your wonderful wedding! I was honored to be able to celebrate you two with your family and friends. I wish you both many joy-filled years of love and adventures together!
