Jessica and Jake were so much fun to work with! They had a clear idea of what they wanted out of their wedding (a fantastic party filled to the brim with friends and family) and truly succeeded. It was the perfect way for the Five Grain Events 2013 wedding season to come to a close!
The ladies started off the day getting hair and makeup done at Charles Ifergan Salon. When they finished up, they headed over to Jessica’s STUNNING suite at Public Hotel. It was a chilly day, but the light in the room was perfect. Photographers Ann & Kam and videographer Olivia Geyelin got fabulous photos of Jessica and Jake’s awesome paper products created by Ruby the Fox Design and her gorgeous Fleur bouquet.
I love seeing how couples incorporate important elements from their backgrounds. Jake and all of the male wedding party and family members started off with a Tish which included lots of singing, prayers, and “adult beverages”. Meanwhile, the ladies were upstairs congratulating the lovely Jessica, while they waited for the men to join them for the Bedecken and Ketubah Signing. The gentlemen paraded upstairs where Jake veiled his bride and then signed the Ketubah–the Jewish marriage contract.
Soon it was time for the chuppah ceremony, held in the Loft area of REC. The beautiful canopy itself had been in Jake’s family for many years, and was additionally decorated with florals provided by Fleur. It was very important to Jessica and Jake that their family members be included in the experience, so all of their nieces and nephews served as flower girls and ring bearers, and even their adorable dog, Goldie, got to walk down the aisle! I especially love the tradition of the happy couple being wrapped together in Jake’s tallit. Such a special and symbolic moment!
The cocktail hour was held upstairs in Ravenswood Event Center’s Atrium. Guests noshed on delicious hors d’oeuvres and toasted the newlyweds while Jessica and Jake took a few minutes alone for yichud so they could soak in the moment –they were married! Meanwhile, the tables were being set in the Billboard Showroom for dinner and dancing. I cannot get over the gorgeous centerpieces–all slightly different–created by Fleur.
When cocktail hour was over, guests were welcomed into the Billboard Showroom to the sounds of the Gold Coast All Stars. Before dinner was served, the band got everyone on the dance floor to start one of the longest and most fun horas I’ve ever witnessed–about 20 minutes! It got everyone in the party mood for the rest of the evening.
Following a delicious dinner by Ravenswood Event Center and some wonderful speeches, there was even more dancing, fun, and FOOD: a simple cutting cake by Bittersweet Bakery, an assortment of Molly’s Cupcakes, Spin-Spun gourmet cotton candy, and late night snacks thanks to Lou Malnati’s. Everyone present had a wonderful time!
We were so lucky to have Olivia Geyelin on hand shooting video of the fabulous day. I think her short really shows what a fantastic party it was!
Jessica and Jake, it was a pleasure working with you both and helping bring your wedding day to fruition! Wishing you all the best for a wonderful life together.
