Rachel and David’s Organically Beautiful Wedding at Adler Planetarium 05.04.13

From the moment I first met with Rachel, David, and Rachel’s parents, I knew we would be a great fit.  There was a warmth that radiated from all four of them, and I could tell it would be a wonderful experience helping to put together their dream affair.  Luckily, just under a year later, I was proven right at their stunning wedding at the Adler Planetarium.

I met Rachel and her bridesmaids on wedding day morning at the Westin River North where Sonia Roselli team members, Taylor and Sami were prepping the ladies for the day’s events.  Bethany Fritz of Maypole Studios snapped away while Rachael slipped on her timeless WToo by Watters lace halter gown.  Meanwhile, David and his groomsmen shared a few drinks and more than a few laughs.

Once she was dressed and ready, Rachel and David shared  their first look in the lovely Hana Garden at the Westin.  It was a touching moment and there may have even been a few tears from both bride and groom.

The bridal party loaded onto a limo bus from Windy City Limo for some photographs around the city.  With the cool weather we had been having well into April, the first tree blossoms were just coming into bloom.  The result was these stunning photographs in and around Millennium and Olive Parks surrounded by lots of spring-y goodness.

Down at Adler, the Food for Thought and Event Creative teams were hard at work transforming the space from a museum cafeteria into the glamourous event space it became.  Before long, the guests began to arrive.  We helped them to find their seats while Rachel, David, and their families participated in the Ketubah signing on the lower level.  Rachel is lucky enough to have an uncle who is a Rabbi and he officiated the ceremony.  It is always more meaningful to have someone who really knows you performing the ceremony.

Soon we lined up the bridal party and sent them down the aisle to the sounds of Russell Rolen’s Cello Quartet.  The beautiful ceremony was performed under a stunning rustic chuppah designed by Event Creative.

After a fun cocktail hour guests were invited back into the room for dinner.  There is really no view that can compare to that at Adleroverlooking both the lake and the twinkling cityscape–but the real jaw-dropping vistas were inside!  Event Creative did an incredible job with the décor for the evening, and all the paper products (created by the talented bride herself!) perfectly complimented the tablescapes.

The evening’s meal was served station-style with each station representing a different one of Rachel and David’s favorite foods–from an Asian buffet complete with chopsticks and white takeout boxes of rice to an Italian station filled with decadent stuffed pastas and a chef-attended traditional carving station.   Food for Thought really hit it out of the park.  After a few heart-felt speeches and lovely special dances, the crew hit the dance floor.  Noah from Style Matters played tune after tune while the guests moved and grooved.  The evening was capped off with an ice cream buffet and late-night mini Chicago-style hot dogs.
