Melinda and Mike’s wedding is extra special for us here at Five Grain Events because it was a collaboration of coordinators – Sara, Joan, and me (Lauren). It is rare that we all get to work together on one event! The reason for this happy collaboration was Joan’s relationship to the groom: Mike is Joan’s brother-in-law! To give Joan a chance to enjoy this joyous occasion, Sara and I were honored to take the reins on Melinda and Mike’s wedding. And what an awesome event it was!
The day started with Melinda and her bridesmaids getting ready at the home she shares with Mike in Elmhurst. I was immediately in love with Melinda’s brightly-colored bouquet created by Fleur Couture. She is obviously not a girl afraid of color. She even donned a bright red bloom in her hair as a nod to the Spanish theme for the day!
After Jenny of J Nelson Photography arrived (all the way from Colorado!) to snap some prep photos, we were off to Mary Queen of Heaven to meet Mike and get married! Melinda’s father walked her down the aisle while guests admired her beautiful lace capped sleeve dress. Absolutely stunning!
Once they became Mr. and Mrs., Mike and Melinda took their bridal party around Naperville in a party bus provided by Exotic Coach. Their colorful theme extended to the bridesmaid’s shoes and groomsmen’s boutonnieres. Everyone looked great, including Five Grain Events’ own Mrs. Cinquegrani and her husband Pat.
Mike and Melinda snuck away from some private portraits and the end result was gorgeous…
… but it was now time to get the party started. We were off to Meson Sabika for a tapas and cocktail reception. The place cards, created by Christine of LolaBean encouraged guests to mix and mingle throughout the seated tables and high boys spread out across the room.
During dinner, Mike and Melinda played a previously filmed video “trailer” by Watermark Studios poking fun at their differences. It had everyone laughing until they cried! Afterward, we didn’t have to tell this crowd twice to get on the dance floor. DJs Jojo and Gizep had everybody on their feet all night!
The whole night was perfect and everyone had a phenomenal time. Melinda and Mike, thank you for allowing the Five Grain Events team to join in your day! We wish you a lifetime of happiness.
