Anna and Jeff were worried that it would be too hot for their August cocktail wedding at Greenhouse Loft, but, luckily for us, the stars aligned and the day couldn’t have been more perfect!
Wedding day started out with hair and makeup appointments for Anna and her bridesmaids at Salon 212. Once everyone was all dolled up, they headed back to Anna’s parents’ house to finish getting ready. Meanwhile, the groomsmen arrived at Jeff and Anna’s apartment to have lunch and hang out.
Once the bridesmaids were all ready, they departed via a bus from Windy City Limo to meet up with the gentlemen. Her photographer Jazzarelle Bernabe was there to capture Jeff and Anna’s first look in their back yard.
Jeff and Anna initially met on match.com, but found out quickly that they were in the same euchre league at Lottie’s pub, so a stop by Lottie’s for a picture was a must.
After pictures around the neighborhood, the bridal party headed out for some photo ops on the way to Greenhouse Loft.
Anna is a Social Studies teacher which inspired the map theme for the day. She had all of the bouquets made of paper flowers using maps as the material. As an extra special touch, each bridesmaid’s bouquet was made up of maps of a place that was special to them.
While the bridal party was out for pictures, the FGE team went over to Greenhouse Loft to start setting up all of Anna’s other map touches. Anna hand-made every one of her centerpieces, making adorable paper map flowers, which were accompanied by paper map confetti. Small globes were sprinkled throughout the space and special signs helped tie in the theme. Chicago Chuppah arrived to set up a beautiful chuppah for the outdoor ceremony while we put the finishing touches on the rest of the decor.
After the bridal party arrived at Greenhouse Loft, they took a few photos before hiding out for the ceremony. The heartfelt ceremony was officiated by one of Jeff and Anna’s friends, making it extremely personal and quite poignant.
After the ceremony, the party began! Anna and Jeff didn’t want to have a formal, sit-down dinner, so they elected to have a cocktail party. Food for Thought offered delicious hors d’oeuvres and tasty beverages as the guests enjoyed the beautiful weather outside. After about an hour, the party moved indoors for heavier hors d’oeuvres, food stations, and dancing. Following a welcome toast from the bride’s father, Jeff and Anna kicked off the dancing with their first dance together as husband and wife.
Anna is a singer and performer, and a highlight of the evening (and of my wedding season) was her performance with her cousin of “Sweet Home, Chicago” accompanied by her uncle on guitar and the fabulous TVK Orchestra.
The rest of the evening was truly a celebration with heartfelt speeches by the maid of honor and best man and desserts by Food for Thought. Memories were captured in a fun photo booth by Magbooth. The TVK Orchestra kept guests dancing all night. One of the moments Anna was most looking forward to was dancing with her granddad. I love the photo of the two of them–just beaming!
Jeff and Anna, I wish you a lifetime of happiness and I hope that you always feel at home as long as you are together.
