It was an absolute joy to be involved in all the planning, preparation, and then (most excitingly!) execution of my friend, Matt’s proposal to his girlfriend, Courtney. Matt approached me last fall about assisting him on the next step in his life and I was thrilled to be a part of it. After lots of moving up, moving back, and rearranging of the date and plan for the day, we finally decided on giving Courtney a day of pampering followed by the “big moment” on a Saturday in April.
Once we had settled on the date, fate intervened big-time and it couldn’t have been more perfectly planned. Matt received an invitation to an Opportunity Knocks Now event: a cocktail party that he, Courtney, and all of their friends had planned to attend. (After party to show off the bling? check!). It also gave us a great excuse to schedule hair and nail appointments for Courtney without arousing suspicion. Courtney’s sister, Danielle, escorted her around for lunch and a mani/pedi. When she emerged from her hair appointment dressed for the event, a car from Windy City Limousine was waiting to take her to Pleasant Home in Oak Park–it was there that Matt, surrounded by framed photographs of their relationship, presented her with a bouquet of bright and colorful flowers and a stunning engagement ring, hand crafted by Court Jewelry.
Shane Welch was there to capture the moment and then take the lovebirds around Mills Park for some impromptu engagement photos. They then happily headed off to the cocktail party where they surprised all of their friends with their exciting news!
What a wonderful day for a wonderful couple! I loved the note Courtney sent me afterward: “I am so grateful for you and your expertise to help Matt create the most memorable and special day that we have ever had. We will never forget it, and it was perfect. I’m the happiest girl in the world! Thank you!”. I think that says it all.
So many congratulations to the happy couple!
