Ellie is the childhood best friend of Five Grain Events’ own Joan Cinquegrani so when Ellie and Joan asked me to be a part of the Big Day, I was thrilled! Fulton’s on the River is a classic Chicago steak house with views to die for and I was so excited to be able to make Ellie and Will’s day there go off without a hitch.
I started the morning with the bride and bridesmaids at the InterContinental Hotel where Tiffany Berry of Flawless by Tiffany and Gigi Phillip made their magic happen with make-up and hair. When it was time for Ellie to put on her dress, the excitement really ramped up in the room. Ellie looked gorgeous and it was time to go meet Will and the groomsmen for photos!
Bethany of Maypole Studios arranged a first look in the middle of Michigan Avenue. I’ll admit, watching Ellie dodge traffic alone to get to her groom made me a little nervous, but I think everyone will agree that the photos were worth a little worry.
While I was busy setting up at Fulton’s, the bridal party was taking some stunning photos around Chicago. My favorite is the classic Chicago skyline shot shot at Olive Park. I love that Bethany also worked in some photos in front of the Field Museum, another iconic city backdrop.
Ceremony time finally arrived at Fulton’s, and Ellie and Will tied the knot in a beautiful, intimate setting flanked by flowers from Fleur and a beautiful backdrop and lighting by Elegant Event Lighting. Kate of Toast & Jam provided ceremony music and then quickly moved the party downstairs for cocktail hour. It was an unseasonably chilly evening but everyone braved the weather for the views from Fulton’s riverside patio. Family and friends caught up and showered Ellie and Will with congratulatory hugs.
We moved the party indoors for dinner. During the meal, Joan gave an awesome matron of honor speech that detailed her longtime friendship with Ellie. The wedding guests were treated to some hilarious photos of Joan and Ellie in their younger years. When guests finished eating, the party had plenty of entertainment – Toast & Jam kept everyone on the dance floor but when guests needed a break, they headed to Maypole Studios’ photobooth. They also took the time to write notes and stories in books Ellie had made to be opened on different wedding anniversaries. I loved this personalized touch!
Ellie and Will, it was such a treat to be a part of your beautiful day and witness your love for one another. Thank you for allowing me to join you on such a special day. Congratulations!!
