From the minute I met Ashley and John, I knew that their wedding was going to be special! On wedding day morning, I checked in on the bridal party getting ready at the Park Hyatt and could tell this was going to be a fun day!! There was a wonderful energy running through the group while mom, sisters, and friends prepared for the day. Christy Swain led the makeup team while Brigette Cwik coordinated hair.
Once everyone was ready, the bridesmaids and Ashley’s family went across the street to the Water Tower to take some pictures before heading to the ceremony.
John and Ashley had a catholic ceremony at St. Michael’s in Old Town. It served as a beautiful backdrop for their lovely ceremony which was captured perfectly by Amanda Hein Photography and filmed by Modern Image Studios.
After a few formal shots at the church, the bridal party took off on the bus by Windy City Limousine to take pictures around Chicago. What a gorgeous bridal party!!
While the bridal party was out and about town, the Five Grain Events team went over to Harold Washington Library to check in on the reception setup. Kehoe Designs worked their magic on the décor with draping, stunning centerpieces, and fun banquettes.
After cocktails in the Grand Lobby, guest headed up to the Winter Garden for the reception. After John and Ashley shared their first dance dinner began. Jewell Events Catering outdid themselves with the delicious meal.
During dinner, guests heard heartfelt toasts by Ashley’s parents, the best man, and maids of honor. After the meal, guests were treated to a special surprise. Prior to the wedding, Ashley’s bridesmaids had been secretly meeting and learning a choreographed dance, which they performed for Ashley and John at the reception. The looks on Ashley and John’s faces were priceless! I have to say, the dancing was pretty amazing—way to go ladies!! It was definitely a highlight of the evening and the wedding season as a whole!
Ashley a little something up her sleeve as well—a second dress–which she changed into shortly after dancing began. I loved the extra shot of drama the wardrobe change brought! Jewell Events Catering finished the evening with a delectable sweets table followed by late night snacks while guests dance the night away to the sounds of the High Society Orchestra. This wedding was a true celebration.
I enjoyed working with Ashley and John so much! They are a beautiful couple inside and out and I wish them all the best!!
